Abstract

In teaching and learning activities, the teacher's position is no longer the main learning medium in education. At this time, students can easily gather information from various types of media and learning sources which are developing in line with technological advances, both in terms of IT-based learning and other communications. The research uses a qualitative approach, with a library research method through collecting related sources of previous research data. Access to research data comes from Google Scholar and other articles related to research studies. The research results reveal the importance of PAI teacher competency in the learning process in the independent curriculum in the digital era. Considering that Islamic education has large-scale material, including Tarikh, Al-Qur'an Hadith, Fiqh, and Aqidah Akhlak, which is important for students, a PAI teacher must make optimal use of digital media, social media, and search engines to find relevant material, as well as supporting the PAI learning process in the independent curriculum in the digital era.
