Abstract
Although public participation in understanding public policy and government dynamics is an important indicator of democratic development, public political literacy still faces challenges, particularly in understanding the direction of government policies and their implications for social, economic, and political life. This community service activity aims to provide political education and strengthen public political literacy through a public dialogue themed “Understanding the Prabowo-Gibran Government Transformation Strategy from the Perspective of People-Oriented Nationalism.” The activity was held on June 1, 2026, in Mataram City and involved 65 participants consisting of students, academics, cadres of community and political organizations, and the general public. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, participatory dialogue, panel discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. Activity evaluation was conducted through participatory observation and a Google Form questionnaire based on a 1–5 Likert scale completed by 56 participants. The evaluation results showed that 88% of participants understood the concept of people-oriented nationalism after participating in the activity, 91% considered public dialogue effective as a medium for political education, and 93% stated their willingness to participate in similar activities in the future. The findings of this activity indicate that public dialogue can create a participatory, critical, and constructive space for political education in understanding public policy. The implications of this activity emphasize the importance of the role of higher education institutions as agents of public political education in strengthening democracy, political literacy, and public participation on an ongoing basis.
