Pendidikan Islam Perspektif Buya Hamka: Relevansinya terhadap Penguatan Kesehatan Mental Remaja

Abstract

The issue of adolescent mental health has become increasingly concerning in line with the changing times and the advancement of digital technology. Social pressure from media, unrealistic self-comparisons, academic stress, and the demand for success are factors that exacerbate adolescents' psychological conditions. In facing these challenges, psychological support and holistic education from educators are urgently needed. This study aims to explore the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of Buya Hamka and its relevance in strengthening adolescent mental health, particularly through the application of aqidah (faith), akhlak (ethics), and the balance between intellect and soul. The method employed is a library research approach with descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that Buya Hamka’s concept of Islamic education emphasizes the importance of aqidah as a spiritual foundation that provides life direction and meaning, akhlak as a guide for emotional regulation and social interaction, and the balance between reason and soul as a basis for sound and integrated decision-making. This approach proves relevant to the needs of adolescents facing mental health crises and offers a transformative and preventive alternative solution. The study concludes that Islamic education from Buya Hamka’s perspective holds significant potential in enhancing adolescent mental resilience and can be integrated into more holistic and contextual character education strategies.
