Desain Pendidikan Aqidah Spiritual dalam Hadits dan Kurikulumnya

Abstract

The application of a spiritual approach in Islamic education is an urgent necessity to bridge the gap between religious knowledge and the lived practice of faith in daily life. This study aims to conceptually examine spiritual aqidah (aqidah rohaniah) education based on hadith studies and to explain the steps that need to be taken to cultivate children’s innate disposition (fitrah) through specific methods so that they can actualize faith in the oneness of Allah as a path to attaining happiness in this world and the hereafter. Through a descriptive–analytical examination of the concept of spiritual aqidah education, the study identifies several core components: (1) instilling aqidah as a foundational basis; (2) developing work ethic and motivation grounded in iman, Islam, and ihsan; (3) maintaining consistency in faith; and (4) understanding natural and social phenomena through the internalization of Islamic law as a reflection of faith and Islamic theology. The highlighted methods of aqidah education include modeling/imitative methods, habituation, hikmah (wise guidance), and exemplary counsel (mauʿiẓah ḥasanah), all of which are directed toward shaping children’s religious thinking and behavior. The analysis underscores that the family is the first and principal environment for forming a child’s aqidah, where parents act as key agents in upholding tawḥīd within the family through correct understanding and practice of tawḥīd, the provision of tawḥīd-based values, and material and emotional support. Accordingly, parents function as role models who provide integrated religious knowledge, guidance, and experience for their children, so that family-based spiritual aqidah education can serve as a foundational pillar for the formation of a robust Islamic character.
