Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many students who lack confidence during the learning process in class. This is because the independent character of students has not been formed in students. This study aims to determine how the formation of independent character of students using the habituation method through Friday cultum activities. This research uses a qualitative method. Research data were taken from six informants through in-depth interviews. To strengthen the data, the author also conducted direct observation. The results showed that the cultum jum'at activity can form seven indicators of independent character, namely: work ethic (hard work), resilience, fighting power, professionalism, creativity, courage, and being a lifelong learner. This activity has several supporting factors including the role of the teacher, the facilities and infrastructure, and the allocation of special time. The inhibiting factors of this activity are: there are still students who are noisy during the activity, and the location is inadequate.
