Abstract
There is a tendency for some teachers in Indonesia to perceive that the existence of a lesson plan as a mere formality to obtain their right i.e. monthly salary. This issue prompted the author to conduct a research that sought to analyse and assess the preparation and implementation of lesson planning in English learning by English Education Study Program students at the University of Mataram who were taking the Micro Teaching course. This study also aims to determine the quality of student-made lesson plans and their application in the learning practices, especially in teaching English. Data were collected through observation and interviews from 32 student as the research samples determined using Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data were then analyzed using Content Analysis Technique adopted from Bin-Hady & Abdulsafi (2018) about the application of lesson plans in learning. Results prove that the students: (1) applied their lesson plans in their practical learning activities; (2) applied their lesson plans with different levels of compliance, which is below 100%; and (3) --‘s lesson plan completeness was not affected by the level of teachers’ obedience in following the lesson plan’s syntaxes.
