Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using Augmented Reality media in learning atomic structure to enhance students’ learning motivation. The purpose of this research is to analyze how immersive and interactive technology can foster conceptual understanding and increase engagement in the science classroom. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two groups of students, one learning with Augmented Reality media and the other with conventional instruction. Data were collected through motivation questionnaires, learning outcome assessments, and classroom observations, followed by both quantitative and qualitative analyses. The results indicate that students using Augmented Reality media demonstrated a significant improvement in learning outcomes compared to those taught conventionally. Moreover, students reported higher levels of attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction, suggesting that Augmented Reality can strengthen intrinsic motivation and promote active learning. The analysis also revealed that Augmented Reality fosters deeper comprehension of abstract concepts in atomic structure by transforming them into visual and interactive experiences, which traditional approaches often fail to achieve. In conclusion, the use of Augmented Reality media in teaching atomic structure effectively improves both cognitive and affective dimensions of learning. These findings highlight the potential of immersive technology as a transformative educational tool that supports meaningful learning experiences. Future research is recommended to expand the scope of implementation and investigate its long-term impacts in diverse educational contexts.
