Meningkatkan Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris Materi Teks Deskriptif Orang melalui Model Discovery Learning pada Siswa Kelas VII-A SMPN 3 Masbagik
Abstract
This research aims that through the discovery learning model it can improve the achievement of learning English with descriptive text material of people in class VII-A students of SMP Negeri 3 Masbagik even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. This research procedure was carried out in two cycles, where the two cycles were interrelated, meaning that cycle two was a continuation of cycle one. Each cycle includes: 1) the planning stage, 2) the implementation stage of the action, 3) the observation / evaluation, and 4) the reflection stage. The implementation of each cycle consists of 2 meetings. In collecting data, the researcher used a data collection technique, namely a subjective test, totaling 10 items in the form of a description. The results of this study indicate that during the pre-cycle, the average value obtained was only 64.57, increasing by 3.46 to 68.03 in cycle I. In cycle II, the class average value was 78.40, indicating an increase of 13 , 83 from cycle I. A quite positive change also occurred in the increase in the acquisition of scores that met the predetermined KKM value limits, namely in the pre-cycle only 40.00% of students were able to reach the KKM limit (Minimum Completeness Criteria), in the first cycle the percentage of students those who meet the KKM limit increased by 19.23% to 56.67%. The percentage increase continued in cycle II. In this final cycle, the percentage of students who meet the KKM score becomes 90.00%, which means an increase of 33.33% from the first cycle and by 50.00% from the pre-cycle. Thus, it means from the above data that through the discovery learning model in class VII-A student learning at SMPN 3 Masbagik even semester of the 2019/2020 school year, it turns out that it can improve English learning achievement in descriptive text material.
